Thereare no longer any gatekeepers: the journals and op-ed pages that wereonce strictly edited have been drowned under the weight ofself-publishable blogs.

Theseare symptoms of the same disease: amanic reinterpretation of “democracy” in which everyone must havetheir say, and no one must be “disrespected.” 
Thisrepresents the full flowering of a therapeutic culture whereself-esteem, not achievement, is the ultimate human value, and it’smaking us all dumber by the day.
